Industrial-partner carbon removal

The idea
Using biomass-processing partners and carbon measurement infrastructure; Varaha example.
Why this is interesting
- The approach turns existing biomass-processing sites into carbon removal capacity. The hard parts are likely measurement, verification and persuading industrial partners to change how they handle residues, not the removal process alone.
- Omnivore describes this through a company in its own portfolio, in a fund newsletter. That shows one team is attempting the approach. It does not show that the market is open or that customers are underserved, and the newsletter’s traction claims were not independently checked.
Possible starting points
Partner-site record keeping
Help a facility that already processes crop residue capture the records a verifier would ask for, before any credit is sold.
Residue supply mapping
Map where biomass residues arise in one region, who controls them and how reliably they could reach a processing partner.
Questions to answer
- Who pays first: the credit buyer, the project developer or the industrial partner, and what does each need to see?
- Which verification steps are slowest or most disputed for biomass-based removal?
