Development of 4G/LTE based tactical local area network

Source

Source summary

Develop a 4G/LTE tactical local-area network for high-bandwidth real-time information exchange on moving platforms. It must support dynamic networking and integrate with existing radio and satellite links as part of the information grid.

No. 349Problem statementDefence and aerospace

Active protection system (APS)

Abridged source description: develop an active vehicle-protection system using fast sensors and actuators to protect against anti-tank missiles or projectiles. The source allows electronic and physical countermeasures. Weapon-defeat mechanisms and implementation detail are intentionally omitted; this is not a complete technical specification.

No. 353Problem statementDefence and aerospace

Unmanned surface and underwater vehicles

Abridged source description: design autonomous surface and underwater vehicles for offensive, defensive, reconnaissance and repair roles. The vehicles must communicate with their base through encrypted control links. Details supporting offensive deployment are omitted; the source specifies multiple roles rather than a solely civilian inspection product.

No. 354Problem statementDefence and aerospace

Remotely piloted airborne vehicles

Abridged source description: develop remotely piloted aircraft with encrypted control links across several altitude, endurance and size categories. The source includes launch/recovery, control, monitoring and debrief systems, indigenous sensing/intelligence payloads and weapon-carrying capability among possible development areas. Weapon integration and targeting details are omitted; this is a broad development programme rather than one narrowly specified drone.
